Kyneton Lions Clubs Operation Safeplate Program

Kyneton Lions Club conducted an operation safe plate on Dec 18, 2016, where they changed over 125 cars number plates from standard screws to tamper proof screws, Kyneton Lions were assisted by Leading Senior Constable Jason Azzopardi Victoria Police, Len Young from Kyneton Lions Club was very pleased with the number of people who attended, and advised this was another very successful initiative conducted by the Kyneton Lions Club. They were kept very busy, but had time to change over the number plate screws on the Command Control vehicle for Kyneton Fire brigade CFA,


Club Spokesman Len Young said he was very pleased with the turnout, with 125 cars’ numberplate screws changed to tamper-proof. The day was very popular with residents from the district, even as far away as Castlemaine.

Leading Constable jason Azzopardi from Gisborne Police was on hand to assist the Lions Club with the changeover. Number plates are regularly stolen and used in various unlawful ways including fuel driveoffs, robberies, avoiding tollway fines, and speeding fines.

Mr young thanked Jason for his assistance and added that this was aother great initiative of Lions Clubs and Victoria Police supporting the local community.

Kyneton Lions getting ready for the Safe Plate day

Protect Your Cars Number Plates, the Lions Club of Kyneton regularly conduct a changeover of Number plate screws to anti theft number plate screws. Number plates are regularly stolen to use in Service station drive offs, robberies and other illegal activities.
